The Island of Ischia, Near The Amalfi Coast & Naples

Ischia (ee-skee-ya), the small island off of the Naples peninsula is one of those places that does not ring familiar over cocktail chatter. Most are missing out on a special place sans-Americani, and as a recent customer stated, has rated as one of the top 15 most romantic places in the world. A tall order indeed. The history is rather impressive for this little forgotten island. Forget the Greeks and Bronze Age and Romans in millennium past, all of which had a turn on this place, more recently Michelangelo, George Berkeley, Benedetto Croce, Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, Maria Callas...all have come here to relax, bath in the healing waters and drink the famous wine of this island. Ischia has ancient and modern history to boast.

A little detail please:
- 46 square kilometers
- 10 kilometers by 7 kilometers
- Mountain (Epomeo) in the middle is 780 meters
- 54,000 people
- Beaches a minimum of 6 scattered around the island
- Thermal baths 29
- Thermal parks 6
- Major towns - Ischia, Forio, Lacco Ameno, Cassamiciola Terme, San Angelo
- Arrival - get there by hydrofoil from Naples

So what's there to do on this island? From our rentals (the historic Castle Aragon) you can walk into Ischia for dinner, a cafe and even light groceries. Additionally there is a swimming area in the village of Ischia and beaches are found in several other places on the island in and around the other towns along the island's rim. There are many thermal baths and resorts all over the island. Grab a scooter and head out for some fun discovering these little tuck-aways. If you get a little rock happy you can take a hydrofoil over to Naples, shop, have some pizza and return for bed. It's a 30 minute trip.
