Lavaggiorosso, Vermentino

Lavaggiorosso, Vermentino Located Near Levanto in Liguria

Lavaggiorosso, Vermentino Located Near Levanto in Liguria. Lavaggiorosso, where our two townhouse vacation rentals Lavagiorosso Pigato and Lavaggiorosso Vermentino reside, is one of Cinque Terre's most interesting and least known antique villages. With a history as well: founded and built up high and behind a mountain in order to be protected against pirates of the 1500 - 1600's. The church goes back to 1600, and also most of the houses are of the same period. The local products are olives, salted anchovies, wine and oil. What else do you need? In Lavaggiorosso you can find the antique inn "Zita", a simple restaurant on the top of the valley managed by a very nice family who are able to combine kindness with more than favorable prices. Please note that this is a small place with only a handful of tables. No menu. Only good food delivered by a big mama. Additionally, the doors to the homes in town have mostly all been painted by regional artists in rather interesting styles - modern, classic, impressionistic. All very Italian. A holiday at Lavaggiorosso combines the rich treats of Italy, enabling you to make easy visits to Pisa, Lucca and Florence, enjoy this superb part of the Mediterranean coast and enter into the old world courtesy and peace of village life. Levanto has a train station for Cinque Terre. We still suggest a car.

PLEASE NOTE: The house (and town) is not suitable to people with walking difficulties.

Perfect for: Families or couples.

A Little on the Region
If you like hiking the hills, Levanto is a good spot to begin. You can hike south to Monterosso and the Cinque Terre or north to Bonassola, Anzo, and Deiva Marina. There are low level hikes along the water (these still involve some climbing up and down the cliffs along the water) and high level hikes in the hills. You can get hiking information at the tourist office in Levanto and detailed signs of all hikes are posted in town. You can also get the train that runs along the coast from La Spezia to the Italian Riviera. The town of Levanto serves as a doorway to Cinque Terre. If you like local dishes, try the Ligurian Farinata - a typical dish made with chick pea flour and mixed with water, salt and olive oil. Mixed with Pesto, Gorgonzola and Stracchino cheese. A holiday at Lavaggiorosso combines the rich treats of Italy, enabling you to make easy visits to Pisa, Lucca and Florence, enjoy this superb part of the Mediterranean coast and enter into the old world courtesy and peace of village life.
