2 Stops To Cinque Terre

You simply can't escape this page without a word or two on the popular area nearby known as "Cinque Terre,” the five charming fishing villages that lie between LEVANTO in the north and Portovenere to the south: Monterrosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. A place that used to be popular among Italian, but commonly among Germans, English and the increasingly adventurous American audience of Rick Steve's books and television specials (threatening the tranquility of this spot), Cinque Terre allows the traveler to embrace - literally - the mountains as they meet the sea via a hiking path which connects these humble villages. The main attraction here are not museums, historical duomo, piazza's and works of art. It's the fresh air, warm sea and often strenuous walk from village to village…which requires a purchasable pass. It’s a popular place due to Rick Steves.
