SI-FI BISTECA

The true "Steak To Go."

Inspired by a wacky book we read in the late 20th century about some people that had recipes based on strapping their ingrediants to various parts of the car, driving so many miles in the American South West, and eating it on the side of the road.

Great idea.

Not surprisingly, the book was not a hit and became road kill at second publishing. To the honor of the writers of that book, we have tried our own recipe - strapping a steak to the manifold of your Fiat Punto and driving from Siena to Florence for cooking time. Done medium rare (on the rare side). Although we have shared this with customers for years, we are sure no one has ever tried it.

Short cut: See above.
Long cut: Get yourself a decent cut of steak for two, not too thick. Wrap it entirely with aluminum foil, a few times, with great care. Strap it any way you can to the hottest part of your engine (can we suggest the manifold?) and drive on a summer day from Siena to the Firenze on the SI-FI SS2 road and exit at Certosa at Firenze. There's a circle with a spit of grass in the center where you can eat.

    Ingredients:
  • Raw steak for two.
  • Aluminum foil.
  • Fiat Punto with manual shift.
  • SI-FI Road.
  • Go about 90 km/hour.

If you run into a traffic jam, consider it well done by the time you arrive. Buckle up for safety!
